PaceBar
Getting Started

Installation

Download PaceBar for macOS or Windows, install it, and let it keep itself up to date.

PaceBar is a small menu-bar / system-tray app for macOS and Windows.

Download

Grab the latest build from the releases page:

  • macOS — Apple Silicon & Intel (.dmg)
  • Windows — x64 (.msi and NSIS .exe)

Install it once and you're set — PaceBar auto-updates in the background, so you stay on the latest release without reinstalling.

First launch

On first launch, PaceBar appears in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows). Click the icon to open the panel, then head to Quick start to enable the providers you use.

Start on login

PaceBar can launch automatically when you log in. Toggle Start on login in Settings → System. It's off by default.

Staying up to date

Updates are delivered through the app's built-in updater and verified against the project's signing key. When a new version is available it downloads and installs on the next launch — no manual steps.

Building from source

PaceBar is built with Tauri v2 (Rust + React + TypeScript), Vite, Tailwind, and Bun. See the README for prerequisites and build steps.
